FDS wouldn’t happen without the local venues, clubs, groups and charities who open their doors to us and cheer us on. Here are a few friends we think you should know about - go and give them your custom.
Pub with rooms, King Street, Frome
Where it all started. Our very first meet up was a pint at the Archangel in July 2025, and they’ve had us back for coffee mornings, family fun days, Christmas drinks and our first anniversary party since. First recorded as an inn in 1311, it’s got a courtyard beer garden, a glass-roofed restaurant, Butcombe ales on the bar and staff who couldn’t be more welcoming.

Bottle shop, cheese and tap bar, Palmer Street, Frome
Home of our evening meet ups in 2026. Palmer Street Bottle is a bottle shop, cheese and tap bar in the St Catherine’s quarter, pouring craft beer, wine and spirits from local producers alongside makers from further afield. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, a refill station, and cheese boards and sausage rolls that have seen off many a Thursday evening.

Indoor bouldering centre, The Cotton Works, Vallis Road, Frome
The kids climb for free while the dads have a coffee - that’s been the deal at our Boulder Rooms coffee mornings. This independent bouldering centre has been open since 2021 with over 150 problems, a dedicated kids’ area, Boulder Babies sessions for one to four year olds and a café stocked with local treats. No ropes, no experience needed.

Music and community venue, Market Yard, Frome
Home of our Sunday coffee mornings. The Cheese & Grain started life in 1874 as Frome’s market hall, where farmers came to trade cheese and grain, and since 1998 it’s been the town’s live music and community venue, run by an independent charity. Gigs, markets, festivals and a big welcome for families, right in the middle of town.

Badgers Hill, Berkley Road, Frome
Our local club and a proper community one. The Robins have played at Badgers Hill since 1904 and, after Frome Town Council stepped in to buy the ground in 2022, the club is now community and fan owned. They’ve hosted our World Cup nights and an evening meet up in the hospitality suite, and we’ve joined them on the terraces for Non League Day. Champions of Southern League Division One South in 2025-26.

Walking group for parents and carers, Somerset
A walking group for mums, dads and carers who want fresh air, fresh chats and friends who just get it. In their own words: no pressure, no bounce-back nonsense - just walks, chats, babies doing baby things and maybe even a coffee between the madness. Whether you’re on mat leave, pat leave or just surviving the newborn fog, you’re welcome. We teamed up with them for a Pram Pals x FDS walk from Frome Cricket Ground in August 2026.

Children’s hospital charity, Bath and North East Somerset
A family-run charity set up in 2011 by Neil and Nicky Halford in memory of their son Ben, who died of cancer aged five. Time is Precious kits out children’s wards with equipment and refurbished spaces that make long hospital stays easier for kids and their families, and has donated over £465,000 to the RUH in Bath. Run entirely by volunteers - every penny raised goes where it’s needed.

Official NHS charity of the Royal United Hospitals, Bath
RUHX is the official NHS charity of the Royal United Hospitals in Bath. Known until 2022 as the Forever Friends Appeal, they’ve been raising money since 1999 to give patients extra care beyond what the NHS can fund, to support the staff who look after them and to back new ideas within the hospital. Their line says it best: together, we have the power to do more.
